When to marry in Mallorca and Ibiza, month by month
Temperature, rain and light from April to October on both islands, with AEMET data: how to choose the date and what plan B to put in writing.

"Which is the best month to marry in Mallorca or Ibiza?" is the most repeated question, and the honest answer is that it depends on what you want to avoid: the heat, the rain or the shortening light. This guide does not choose for you; it lays out the data for both islands, month by month, so that you can.

What the averages say, and what they do not
The figures below are the "normal values" from AEMET, Spain's State Meteorological Agency, for 1981-2010, at the Palma airport and Ibiza airport stations. They are thirty-year averages: they say what a month is usually like, not what the month of your wedding will be. And each station sits at one specific point on the island; an estate in the mountains or on the coast may differ.
They are useful for something else: to know how much of a plan B to have for a given date, and to avoid surprises such as planning an outdoor dinner in a month like October, when on average it rains one day in five.
Temperature and rain, month by month
The table gives mean maximum and minimum temperature (in degrees Celsius) and mean monthly rainfall (in millimetres) from April to October:
| Month | Palma: max. / min. (°C) | Ibiza: max. / min. (°C) | Rain Palma (mm) | Rain Ibiza (mm) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| April | 19.8 / 7.4 | 19.7 / 11.4 | 34 | 31 |
| May | 23.7 / 11.3 | 22.7 / 14.6 | 32 | 27 |
| June | 28.1 / 15.4 | 26.8 / 18.4 | 12 | 11 |
| July | 31.2 / 18.3 | 29.7 / 21.4 | 5 | 5 |
| August | 31.3 / 18.9 | 30.3 / 22.2 | 17 | 18 |
| September | 27.9 / 16.5 | 27.7 / 19.9 | 50 | 57 |
| October | 23.9 / 13.1 | 24.0 / 16.5 | 62 | 58 |
Three things stand out. Highs peak in July and August, above 31 °C in Palma. Minimums are higher in Ibiza than in Palma all year. And rain concentrates in autumn: in Palma, 62 mm in October against 5 mm in July.

April and May: mild, with lengthening light
In April and May, highs are around 20 °C in April and 23 °C in May, and mean rainfall is between 27 and 34 mm. Minimums are low, especially in Palma (7.4 °C in April), so evenings and nights call for a warm layer. Days are already long: on 15 May the sun sets at 20:55 in Palma and 20:58 in Ibiza.
June, July and August: heat and almost no rain
This is the driest part of the year: 5 to 18 mm of rain a month, with fewer than two rainy days on average. It is also the hottest, with mean highs of 27 to 31 °C. In that heat the time of the ceremony matters: a ceremony in the middle of the day tires guests, and the afternoon and sunset, besides being milder, hold the best light. We explain it in more detail in the wedding timetable.
In June and July the longest days arrive: the sun sets at 21:17 in Palma and 21:20 in Ibiza on 15 June 2027. In August it is already earlier: 20:47 and 20:51 on the 15th.

September and October: more rain, less light
September and October are the months when the plan changes most. Mean rainfall rises to 50 mm in September and 62 mm in October in Palma, and to 57 and 58 mm in Ibiza, with four to six rainy days a month. Highs are still pleasant, from 28 °C to 24 °C. And the light shortens fast: in Palma, monthly hours of sun fall from 315 in August to 222 in September and 203 in October.
That does not rule out these months. It means the covered space must be decided and in writing, with its real capacity, and that the timetable must follow sunset, which on 15 October is at 19:11 in Palma and 19:17 in Ibiza.

| Month | Rainy days: Palma / Ibiza | Hours of sun in Palma | Sunset on the 15th, Palma | Sunset on the 15th, Ibiza |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| April | 4.8 / 4.1 | 234 | 20:25 | 20:29 |
| May | 3.8 / 3.2 | 283 | 20:55 | 20:58 |
| June | 1.8 / 1.4 | 316 | 21:17 | 21:20 |
| July | 0.5 / 0.5 | 342 | 21:16 | 21:19 |
| August | 1.7 / 1.5 | 315 | 20:47 | 20:51 |
| September | 4.3 / 4.2 | 222 | 20:00 | 20:04 |
| October | 6.1 / 5.6 | 203 | 19:11 | 19:17 |
November to March
Outside the usual season, mean highs in Palma run from 15 to 19 °C between November and March, and rain is 26 to 55 mm a month; November is the second-wettest month of the year, after October. In Ibiza, winter minimums are milder than in Palma. It is not the most sought-after time, but it exists, and winter light has its own character.
How to choose the date with this data
- Decide what you want to avoid. If it is rain, June, July and August are the driest; if it is heat, May, June and September moderate the highs.
- Check the covered space. In any month, ask in writing for the real capacity of the hall or marquee, and who decides the change and at what hour.
- Fit the timetable to sunset on your date and your island. Here is the Mallorca table and the guide to Ibiza.
